Tournament rules 5vs5

Player Equipment

Shinguards with socks covering the shinguards are mandatory. Team uniforms must be distinct than the opposing team. Goalkeepers should wear a different color than the field players, a bib is acceptable. Cleats are not acceptable. Only futsal shoes (playing on hardtop) allowed.

Game Ball

Size 3 futsal ball. No other ball may be used. Center will provide the ball.

Goals

Standard futsal goals are used.

Goalkeeper Distribution

All “goal kicks” and saved shot from the goalkeeper must be distributed from the goalkeeper hands and must leave the penalty area. Opposing team must stay out of penalty area during a goal clearance. A team may pass the ball back to the goalkeeper's feet only without limits. Picking up the ball by the goalkeeper yields a indirect free kick for the opposing team with the ball placed on the edge of the penalty area.

Kick-offs

Kick-offs may be taken in any directions. Opposing players must give 5 yards until ball is in play. Goals cannot be scored from direct kick-offs.

Kick in

A ball kicked out over the touch line (side line) by one team becomes the other team's ball. The team kicking in has 4 seconds to get the ball back in play or it becomes opponent’s kick in.  Defense must give 5 yards distance. The referee will give a visual count with his hand.  Players taking kick in can not step into the field while kicking ball back into play. Goals cannot be scored from kick-ins.

Corner Kick

Is taken at the point where goal line and touch line meet (at corner).

Indirect Free Kick

5 yards of distance from kicker to set up wall, and ball is in play after it has been touched.

Off-sides

The off-sides rule is NOT in effect.

 Fouls

Little to no contact is allowed.  A direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following seven offenses in a manner considered by the referees to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:

- kicks or attempts to kick an opponent

- trips an opponent

- jumps at an opponent

- charges an opponent

- strikes or attempts to strike an opponent

- grabbing opponent, including clothing

- pushes an opponent

- tackles an opponent

* any type of slide tackle is prohibited. PLEASE STAY ON YOUR FEET. Only the goalkeeper is allowed to slide in an attempt to clear the ball, if in referee's’ judgment, the slide is an attempt only to make contact with the ball, not the opponent.

Post Game Procedures

As a mutual courtesy, both teams will meet at the center circle before the kick off and congratulate each of the opposing team members for a game well played. Manager/coach of both teams will insure their respective sideline areas are clean and that all trash is in containers.

Substitutions

Free substitutions are made "on the fly".  Player can only enter or leave the game in the substitution areas marked by their respective benches (side of the goal), and a player may only enter a game after the player they are replacing has left the field.  Failure to do so results in a caution and an indirect free kick is taken from where the ball was situated when the game was stopped to caution the player.
